The well-known Chinese manufacturer of LED screens, Unilumin, announced the successful certification of its cinema screen, the Unilumin UC-A41, by the DMC research institute of Keio University for use in cinemas. Thus, Unilumin has become the first company in China to produce LED screens and receive DCI certification, granting it full access to the market for digital signage and screens for cinemas.  

 

 

What is DCI certification?

 

DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) is an organization jointly founded by Disney, Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal, and Warner Bros. in March 2002. It created the Digital Cinema System Specification framework aimed at developing standards for digital cinema projection. Digital signage systems or products without DCI certification cannot be used or promoted in the cinema market.
